Car Phones

Just a funny thought I was having on my way to work.  Nowadays we are not allowed to use cell phones in the car at all, but does anyone else remember back when cars actually had phones in them?  Like real corded phones?  I remember a while back, before I could drive myself, my boyfriend at the time’s father had a car phone and I thought it was sick. Actually, to be honest, a corded phone might be a better option for someone like me that looses their phone approximately 8 – 10 times a day!

I just started eHT in January of 2011, and I'm shocked and humbled that people read it! For some reason it seems like I am always in the most ridiculous situations and witness things only seen in movies, so I like to share my experiences with all of you. Thanks for reading! xo

  1. my mom had a WALKIE-TALKIE for her and my dad’s business. It was super duty for the time, so there was an over 20 mile range on them. but still. she used a walkie talkie. I think she may have even used her FANNY PACK to hold it!

    • Now THAT is awesome!! I had a set of walkie talkies once that was supposed to go for 5 miles and I gave one to Emily Collins and kept the other because we lived within 5 miles of each other…it didn’t work out too well though, which was a HUGE disappointment for a 4th grader.

  2. I remember my uncle having one, it seemed like the ultimate in gadgetry at the time. In the UK one of the biggest chains of mobile phone retailers is actually called Carphone Warehouse. A name which I am sure is truly lost on many of their younger consumers.
